Research objectives

Pierre Michel is group leader for laser-plasma applications in the National Ignition Facility and Photon Science directorate, and group leader for laser-plasma interactions in the Inertial Confinement Fusion program at LLNL. He also leads a research project on “plasma photonics” in collaboration with Prof. Jonathan Wurtele.

Research interests include inertial confinement fusion, laser-plasma interactions, plasma physics, optics & photonics.

Honors

John Dawson Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research (2012), Edouard Fabre Prize (2015), Fellow of the American Physical Society (2015), LLNL Early and Mid-Career Award (2016).
